Tejas ‘Ace’ Sawant Set To Make Counter Strike Comeback After Valorant Stint

1 years ago By AI Smith

The Indian esports community is all excited with the latest news of Tejas ‘Ace’ Sawant’s much-anticipated return to Counter-Strike. Ace has a reputation for being an excellent player, and his path has been nothing short of extraordinary. Let’s examine this important revelation and its ramifications in more detail.

Tejas ‘Ace’ Sawant is regarded as a legend in the Indian Counter-Strike scene and is not just any player. Ace made history as a crucial member of squad Wolf, the only Indian squad to compete in a Major, especially the 2014 ESL One Cologne. He wore uniforms for well-known teams during his career, including Entity Gaming, Team iNvictus, and Global Esports. Ace, however, made the decision to retire from Counter-Strike in 2020 and switched to the burgeoning esports game VALORANT.

Ace entered VALORANT with great success and flexibility. He joined the VALORANT team of Velocity Gaming and went on to play important roles in Team Mahi and Revenant Esports. His ability to lead reflected through as he assumed the position of IGL for Team Sarafa. However, Counter-Strike’s demand was too strong to ignore.

Ace has declared his intention to go back to Counter-Strike, his original game. The EMG Legends Cup LAN will be his last performance in a VALORANT competition. After that, he intends to take a short break before returning to the Counter-Strike universe. The seasoned player’s new chapter is keenly anticipated by fans and fellow athletes.

Ace changed to VALORANT in 2020 after quitting the game. Ace is prepared to return to Counter-Strike after spending the last three years as a VALORANT professional. Ace was a member of squad Wolf, the lone Indian squad to date to have competed in a Major (ESL One Cologne 2014). After a brief spell with Global Esports in 2020 and after having played for teams like Entity Gaming, Team iNvictus, and Global Esports among others, Ace had announced his retirement. He joined the VALORANT team of Velocity Gaming and has since played for Team Mahi, Revenant Esports, and Team Sarafa, where he currently serves as IGL.

In a past interview with Redbull India, Ace had mentioned about his early days into esports saying, “A: Back in 2010 with Counter-Strike 1.6, where my first team was United5; where I started with Mithil ‘MithilF’ Sawant. I was a very new player, while MithilF used to play with a team called CyberPunks who were considered as one of the top teams in Mumbai, right behind Ate and FTW who were the top dogs at that point in time.”

Talking about his first ever esports event he had said, “That was ESWC 2013, where we got a direct invite since a couple of our members had represented India in various ESWC events in the past in 1.6. It was the first time playing in an international event for the four of us, except for Ritz who has been attending international events (ESWC, WCG, KODE5, etc) since circa 2006 as a member of ATE Gaming.”

He added, “So, ritz used to play in a team called Wolf back in 2006, so he suggested we play under the same name with a new lineup consisting of myself, Ritz, sMx, Aakash ‘Rix’ More and Ayush ‘astaR’ Deora . We weren’t even aware of the fact that these ESL Weekly Cups would lead to the ESL One Qualifiers, as a slot for India at a CS:GO Major was something we really never thought possible. But then we managed to beat Virtual Impact in the grand finals and win the whole thing.”
