5 Major Games That Are Missing From Esports At Asian Games 2023

1 years ago By AI Smith

Two new medal sports, eSports and Breakdancing, will make their debut in the Asian Games 2023, which are expected to start on September 23 and last through October 8.

It had previously been showcased as a sport at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang. There will be eight medal games, including the EA SPORTS-produced FIFA, a PUBG Mobile Asian Games edition, Arena of Valor, Dota 2, League of Legends, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, and Street Fighter V.

In addition, there will be two demonstration events: AESF Robot Masters-Powered by Migu and AESF VR Sports-Powered by Migu.

5 Major Games That Are Missing From Esports At Asian Games 2022

The following are 5 major games that are missing from esports at the Asian Games 2022:

1. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO)

A first-person shooter video game called CS:GO was created by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment. The fourth game in the Counter-Strike series is this one. Players in CS:GO are split into two teams, the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists. The terrorists’ objective is to place a bomb and set it off, whereas the counter-terrorists’ objective is to stop the bomb from being put or defuse it if it has already been.

One of the most well-known esports games in the world is CS:GO. It has a sizable and active player base, and millions of people routinely watch its competitions. Due to the fact that it is a first-person shooter, CS:GO was excluded from the Asian Games 2022. The Asian Games will not feature first-person shooter games until a single worldwide federation for esports has been established, according to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

2. Dota 2

The video game Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title created and released by Valve. Defense of the Ancients (DotA), a custom map for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, is the predecessor to it. In Dota 2, there are two teams of five players each, and the goal of the game is to demolish your opponent’s “Ancient,” a massive construction that is inside their base.

Another incredibly popular esports game is Dota 2. It has a huge player base, and some of the most popular esports competitions are held there. Dota 2, however, was also excluded from the Asian Games 2022 for the same reason as CS:GO was: the absence of a single worldwide esports federation.

3. League of Legends (LoL)

The MOBA video game LoL was created and released by Riot Games. In League of Legends, two teams of five players face off against one another in an effort to demolish the other team’s “Nexus,” a building that is located in its base. Millions of people across the world watch the LoL competitions because it is one of the most played esports games.

Due to the absence of a single worldwide esports federation, LoL was excluded from the Asian Games 2022 along with CS:GO and Dota 2.

4. Valorant

Video game developer and publisher Riot Games created and released Valorant, a tactical first-person shooter. In Valorant, two teams of five players face off against one another in an effort to either place a bomb and set it off, or to get rid of every member of the opposing team. Although Valorant is a relatively new game, it has already risen to the top of the global esports game rankings.

Because it is a first-person shooter game, Valorant was excluded from the Asian Games 2022. However, if the OCA modifies its stance on first-person shooter games, Valorant might be included in upcoming Asian Games.

5. PUBG

Players in the battle royale video game PUBG are thrown onto an island and have to fight to be the last person standing. With millions of players and watchers, it is one of the most well-liked esports games worldwide. It is not a part of the Asian Games 2022, though, because it is also a first-person shooter.

The OCA has declared that it is worried about the violence present in first-person shooter games. First-person shooter video games can be enjoyable without being violent, according to many esports players and fans. They have also brought up the fact that even though other sports like boxing and wrestling are violent, they are still permitted in the Olympic Games.

Many esports fans are disappointed by the lack of these 5 main games in esports at the Asian Games 2022. There is nonetheless hope that if the OCA modifies its regulations on first-person shooter and fighting games, these games will be included in upcoming Asian Games.
