“I Feel Really Bad For The Developers Of Diablo IV”: Path Of Exile 2

1 years ago By AI Smith

Although almost two months have indeed passed since its launch. Diablo IV continues to be on everyone’s lips thanks to the implementation of a Season 1 full of news and adjustments. However, Blizzard has received several complaints about aspects such as the effectiveness of classes such as the Barbarian or the Sorcerer, among other things, and the developers of Path of Exile 2 are aware of all the problems that the creators of the same ones face.

After all, this RPG has also been working with a system of Seasons known as Leagues, something that will be repeated in the future Path of Exile 2. This is what Jonathan Rogers, co-director of the instalment, commented in an interview with IGN: “The learning process to bring a game live with Seasons like [Diablo IV] is hard. We’ve learned our lessons on how to do these things. Honestly, when I see that, all I can think is ‘Man, that’s tough. It’s a tough situation .'”

“I feel really bad for the developers, because I’m sure they mean well, but yeah, it’s a hard lesson to learn,” Rogers continues. For his part, his partner Chris Wilson agrees with this opinion, recalling the difficulties that arise when creating a video game. “Yes. There are times when a developer looks at something in their game that is going too fast and thinks, ‘I should slow this down.’ However, there is a process for that.”

Path of Exile 2 wants to launch with the right balance

The creators of Path of Exile 2 have not only dedicated themselves to detecting the problems experienced by Blizzard employees, but they have also been learning from all their steps. In this sense, the team has already been thinking about a closed beta that, scheduled for June 2024, will help the game have a proper balance from its final release. “I think you get the balance right at launch, because once you have something done a certain way, players are very reluctant to change it, especially if it’s something that needs to be toned down,” Rogers says.

“We have to make sure that we’re going to have a good beta that tells us everything we need to know about the game.” “It’s not going to be one act or anything. It’s going to be the whole game and we’re going to keep it like a league, months, so we can know for sure what the economy is like, what everything looks like before it comes out.  “continued the manager. “Because it takes quite a while for people to figure out what the most efficient things are, what they’re supposed to do.”

Diablo IV Success

As reported by Blizzard in a press release last Month in June, Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo IV has surpassed the barrier of $666 million in the initial five days of launch. These incomes have also been thanks to microtransactions, which have been the subject of controversy since some cosmetics cost up to €25 in Diablo 4.

The company has also shared other statistics that show the great reception of the game. In this way, 276 million hours have been exceeded and players have killed 276,000 million demons. However, users have also died 316 million times. The true heroes of the community have been the 163 people who have reached the maximum level in Hardcore Mode, that is, permanent death where you lose all your character, time and objects.
