One Piece Online: Character Origins – Borsalino

1 years ago By Nicole Cau

Admiral Kizaru is a prominent character in the popular anime and manga series One Piece created by Eiichiro Oda. Known for his laid-back demeanor and incredible speed, Kizaru has left a lasting impression on fans. One of the Marine admirals, he possesses unique abilities derived from the Pika Pika no Mi Devil Fruit, granting him control over light itself.

Origin

Kizaru and Akainu joined the Marines at a young age to undergo training and strengthen themselves. One of Kizaru’s early missions involved capturing the remaining pirates of the Sun Pirates, particularly Arlong, whom he successfully apprehended and took to Impel Down for interrogation.

Summit War Saga

Kizaru responded to a call concerning the Celestial Dragons and quickly arrived at the Sabaody Archipelago, leading the Navy forces to capture the Straw Hat crew, who had attacked the Celestial Dragons. While searching for his nephew Sentomaru, Kizaru battled several Supernovas, including X Drake, Basil Hawkins, Urouge, and Scratchman Apoo, defeating them. He then encountered the Straw Hat crew and Sentomaru, initially targeting Zoro but ultimately facing off against Silver Rayleigh. Before Kizaru could take action, Bartholomew Kuma intervened and teleported the Straw Hat crew away.

During the Marineford War, Kizaru participated as part of the World Government forces. Their main objective was to publicly execute Portgas D. Ace, the son of Gol D. Roger. Kizaru engaged in battles with various individuals, including Marco, Luffy, and Whitebeard. Despite facing formidable opponents, Kizaru remained calm and composed. The war concluded when the Red Hair Pirates, led by Shanks, arrived.

Post Timeskip

Kizaru appeared at a Marine base, discussing the new Shichibukai Edward Weeble, who claimed to be Whitebeard’s son. He expressed admiration for Weeble’s strength, likening it to that of a young Whitebeard. After intercepting a communication between Big Mom and Kaido, Kizaru contemplated intervening. However, Sakazuki advised him to wait due to uncertainty about the forces in Wano Country. Following the defeat of Kaido and Big Mom, Kizaru conversed with Akainu about both Luffy and Sabo. Upon learning of Luffy’s presence on Egghead, Sakazuki dispatched Kizaru to assist Rob Lucci and handle the new Emperor. Kizaru also had discussions with one of the Five Elders regarding Vegapunk.

The Pika Pika no Mi Devil Fruit

Kizaru’s remarkable powers stem from consuming the Pika Pika no Mi Devil Fruit, a Logia-class fruit that allows him to transform into light and manipulate its properties. This Devil Fruit grants him incredible speed, reflexes, and the ability to travel at the speed of light. With these abilities, Kizaru can move effortlessly and deliver lightning-fast attacks, making it challenging for his opponents to keep up with him.

Abilities and Techniques

Yasakani no Magatama (Eight-Span Mirror Beads)

Kizaru’s signature attack, Yasakani no Magatama, involves him concentrating light into small spherical projectiles resembling beads. These beads possess immense destructive power and can be shot at high speeds, obliterating targets with precision and force. Kizaru’s control over light allows him to manipulate the trajectory of these projectiles, making it difficult for adversaries to evade.

Ama no Murakumo (Sword of the Gathering Clouds of Heaven)

Drawing inspiration from Japanese mythology, Kizaru demonstrates his mastery over light by materializing a sword composed entirely of light energy. Ama no Murakumo enhances his combat capabilities, granting him a versatile weapon to engage opponents in close combat. The sword’s blade possesses the sharpness and cutting power of actual steel, making it a formidable tool in Kizaru’s arsenal.

Suke Suke no Mi (Clear-Clear Fruit)

In addition to his primary Devil Fruit power, Kizaru has showcased the ability to make himself intangible by utilizing the Suke Suke no Mi, a Paramecia-class Devil Fruit that grants him the power of invisibility. By manipulating light around his body, he can render himself transparent and virtually undetectable. This ability allows him to launch surprise attacks or infiltrate enemy lines without being detected, further augmenting his already formidable combat skills.

The Power of Light

Kizaru’s control over light is not limited to offensive capabilities. He can also emit blinding flashes of light, disorienting opponents and creating opportunities for strategic advantages. Additionally, his speed allows him to deliver lightning-quick kicks and punches, which, when combined with his ability to transform into light, result in devastating attacks. Kizaru’s light-based powers make him a formidable adversary, as he can strike with precision and overwhelming force while remaining elusive and difficult to target.

Personality and Interactions

While Kizaru is renowned for his extraordinary powers, his personality adds an intriguing layer to his character. He often displays a nonchalant and carefree attitude, even during intense battles and dangerous situations. This demeanor can be both a strength and a weakness, as it allows him to maintain composure and focus, but may also lead to underestimating opponents or failing to take threats seriously. Nevertheless, Kizaru’s laid-back nature contributes to his unique charm and sets him apart from other characters in the series.

In conclusion, Admiral Kizaru is a unique character in the world of One Piece. His laid-back demeanor and nonchalant attitude contrast with his incredible speed and power, making him a fascinating character to watch. While his motivations and moral compass may be ambiguous, there’s no denying his impact on the series and his status as one of the powerful admirals of the Marine force.
