1 years ago By AI Smith

In a surprising move, Quest Esports, a prominent name in the competitive Dota 2 scene, has announced the appointment of Nikita “Daxak” Kuzmin as their new Dota 2 coach. This decision has raised eyebrows within the Dota 2 community, as Daxak, a seasoned Russian carry player with seven years of professional gaming experience, will be transitioning into the coaching role for the first time. His responsibilities will include leading Quest Esports through DreamLeague Season 21 and The International 12 (TI12), two of the most prestigious tournaments in the Dota 2 calendar.

A Bold Transition

Daxak’s transition from a player to a coach is indeed an unconventional choice. Having recently competed in TI12’s Western Europe qualifier as a part of Level Up, Daxak showcased his skills but was ultimately eliminated by Team Secret, landing in the 5th – 6th place. Despite this setback, his rich experience in competitive Dota 2 and his reputation as a formidable carry player have made him a notable figure in the Dota 2 community.

Immediate Appointment

Quest Esports acted swiftly in appointing Daxak as their new coach, immediately following the departure of their previous coach, Gennadiy “GuessWho” Filatov. While there were speculations regarding this move, the official announcement solidified Daxak’s role as the new mentor for Quest Esports.

Daxak’s Motivation

In a Telegram post, Daxak shared his motivation for embracing the coaching role with Quest Esports. He mentioned, “Anyway, I decided to become a trainer because I’ve always done double work, I’ve broken up in a good relationship + I wanted to go to the Int. I hope we can all get visas and get settled in. I hope coaching will be easy, not hard.”

A Varied Career

Daxak’s journey in professional Dota 2 has been marked by ups and downs. He has played for various teams over the years, with varying degrees of success. Notably, Daxak is known for his unconventional carry playstyle, which gained him recognition, particularly in a patch about a year ago. His performances on heroes like Visage and Nature’s Prophet made him a force to be reckoned with.

The Challenge Ahead

As Quest Esports continues to strive for excellence and improvement, Daxak faces the challenge of transitioning from a player to a coach. His role will involve providing valuable insights and guidance to the team. With recent coaching changes and the need for roster stability, Quest Esports aims to continue its impressive journey in the Dota 2 competitive scene.

Coaching Debut

Daxak is set to make his coaching debut with Quest Esports on September 18, 2023, as DreamLeague Season 21 kicks off. Following that, TI12, commencing on October 12, 2023, will provide him with a significant platform to establish himself as a coach in the Dota 2 community.

Quest Esports’ bold decision to entrust Daxak with their coaching responsibilities will undoubtedly be a topic of interest and discussion among Dota 2 enthusiasts, and all eyes will be on how Daxak guides the team in these upcoming tournaments.
